Vanilla Peppermint Cupcakes!

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!  I got to do a little baking this weekend at my parents house.  This was a Sprinkles Cupcakes recipe for vanilla peppermint.  I think they were pretty tasty, next I'll have to try the peppermint frosting on chocolate cupcakes!

Christmas Baskets

My kitchen is STILL not up and running, but I did make a few of my Aunt Mertice's Pound Cake for gift baskets this week. I got the idea for the baskets from here.  It's a great project when you have to do lots of little gifts! Merry Christmas!

Raspberry Sherbert Cupcakes

I found some entries I hadn't yet posted for this week, since my kitchen is still not up and running!  These were super yummy!  It's champagne cake with lemon filling and raspberry buttercream.  The flavors together taste just like Rasberry Sherbert!

Dream Kitchen

Since our new house is under construction and I'm currently kitchen-less, I thought I would post my dream bakery kitchen.  The new oven will be delivered tomorrow and I will be back to work soon!

I would maybe add one more oven :)

Cross cake

This cake was done for a church event.  I was worried the silver wouldn't come out right, but I think it turned out really pretty.  There's a little shimmer to it that you can't see in the picture.  My sleep deprived self just wanted to get in bed and didn't care about getting a good picture at the time.

A chocoholics dream...

Let me preface this by saying, watching too much Food Network can be hazardous to your health.  I saw this on the Barefoot Contessa and thought, "I can do  that."  Then I proceeded to one up myself and decided I'm going to make my chocolate from scratch (did I mention this was my first time using a chocolate mold?).  Let's just say, if the Contessa uses store bought you probably should too.  I scoured Tupelo for coconut oil and then proceeded to cover our entire kitchen with a layer of chocolate.  Despite all the extra work, I must say the dark chocolate was delicious and much better than the almond bark/baker's chocolate in the grocery store.  This is definitely a chocolate lover's dream and a really cool birthday "cake."  The inside of the cupcake was hollow and filled with truffles and chocolate covered pretzels and strawberries.

Milk chocolate top, with a dark chocolate base and decorations.

Music Man

Erin took these to choir for Brian's birthday this week.  I ordered this cookie cutter months ago (I have a teensy little problem with online shopping:) ) and finally got to use it.  I think they turned out pretty cute

Spiderman

This cake was for a four-year old's birthday.  I brainstormed for-ev-er for a cool way to do a Spiderman cake.  I finally decided to have the webbing come up off the cake, so it would look like he was shooting out a web.  Of course this didn't go as smoothly as I imagined, and I broke at least 10 webs the night I was making the cake, but luckily I still had a couple extra and the small ones to decorate.  Everything is completely edible, and was hand drawn.

Wedding Cake

This was my final class project and will be a demo at a fall festival I'm doing.  I got a little ahead of myself and took pictures before I completely finished it.  To be honest, I was a little afraid it would fall apart in transit so I snapped a few pictures to be safe.  My little car is not the best delivery vehicle since the only place a large cake will fit is on the slanted back seat.  Excuse #250 to get a new car (did I mention that my window broke, AGAIN!)

Addison's Birthday

This was for Addison's sixth birthday.  My final project for my class was a three tier cake, so rather than waste it I went a little over the top on this cake.  Bigger is better though, right?!

Wouldn't you know my best picture is of the back!

Cake Class #2

This week was basketweave and tipped roses.  I was pretty pleased with my results, even though I forgot my buttercream and kept having to stop and start.  I'm pretty sure I'm the worst student ever; I've left something at home every single class!
