50th Anniversary

This cake was for a 50th wedding anniversary.  The couple didn't have a wedding cake when they got married, so they wanted a big cake for their party.  I wish I had gotten pictures once the flowers were on the cake, I'll know next time!

Baby block

This cake was for a baby shower.  It's made to look like a baby block so it ends up being a super tall cake, but I love it!  I always love doing shower cakes, baby stuff is always so cute and fun.  I have a million pictures and ideas saved for baby shower cakes; they are definitely one of my favorites to do.

Black and pink dots

This cake was for a coworkers birthday a while ago.  I tried a new cake for it, or at least a new combination.  It was white cake with buttercream and fresh strawberries in the middle.  Yum!

Farris's wedding cake

This was the first really big wedding cake I've done.  Wedding cakes are a whole new ball game, the cake part was fine, but I was not prepared for the crazy stress of it.
Note to self:  when you are already stressed and running around like a mad woman, ban all family from the house.  Erin at the worst possible time walked in the kitchen and told me, "Well you better make sure it's perfect, that will be in their pictures for the rest of their lives."  What?!  That did not help my nerves at all!  All in all I think it turned out really well.

Zebra and Polka Dots

I think the zebra cake has turned out to be one of  my most popular cakes and I love doing it!  I'll admit when they told me zebra AND polka dots I was a little worried, but I think it turned out great!

Frogs and turtles

I did these cookies a while ago and some how forgot to upload them.  They were for a baby shower and done to match the baby bedding.  Super cute for a little boy

IU cupcake creation

This was my first attempt at a "cupcake creation."  What can I say?  I like to go all out.  I think this one ended up being somewhere around 500 mini cupcakes!  It was for a going away party and is the Indiana University logo.

Old as dirt

This was a larger version of the "Old as Dirt" cake I had done a while ago.  I still love this cake, it's a cutesy, nice version of the typical over-the-hill cake.

Brittiany's wedding cake

This was the last in my month of marathon wedding cakes.  I had four weeks five wedding cakes, a grooms cake, and a few birthday cakes thrown in for good measure on top of my regular nine to five!  I must say I was so glad to get this finished and take a breather.  I was a little unsure at first of the chocolate dots, but I really like the way it came out especially with the orange-y calla lilies.

Nica Birthday cake

I am officially the worst blogger ever!  Things have been so crazy busy the last few months, but I should have lots of posts coming up!  I forgot to take pictures of this cake beforehand, it was for my sister's 30th birthday and was Nicaragua themed.  I tried to add different elements from our trip; the top was a volcano (complete with a person sledding down the side!) the beach, surfing, coca-cola, backpacks, a zip line... it had a lot going on!  It was a great way to commemorate our trip and share with our family and friends when we got back.

Bridal Shower Cake

I'm back!  Erin and I had a great trip in Nicaragua!   I should be back to posting semi-regularly now.  This was a bridal shower cake I did right before our trip.  It's white cake with lemon curd filling and buttercream frosting, one of my favorites!

Un mes en Nicaragua

I won't be posting for a while.  My sister and I are in Nicaragua for a month on a mission trip!  We arrived on Wednesday and have loved it so far!  Hopefully I'll be back to posting when we return around July 4th.

Retirement Cake

This was for a retirement party a few weeks ago.  I have to give Erin credit, she came up with the "Off the Clock" saying AND found the design I ended up using online.  I really wanted to do something a little more personalized, but work, lots of projects, and a few nights with very little sleep changed that plan.  The top was vanilla cake and the bottom is my favorite: white cake with lemon curd filling and buttercream.  Yum!

Peace Sign Cupcakes

More peace signs!  These were done for a birthday a couple weeks ago.  I love the way they turned out!  I made a stencil for the peace signs and cut them and the daisies out of gum paste.

Tye Dye

I think it's so funny how everything comes around again.  When I was in fifth grade, I insisted on having a smiley face cake with peace signs and my mom went on and on about how that was from her day.  It went away for a while, but now peace signs and smiley faces are every where again!  This was for a birthday party a few weeks ago.

Firetruck Cake

This was for a fireman theme birthday party.  I love the dalmation spots and she had a firetruck to use as a cake topper, so cute!

Cookie Cutter Crazy

I'm a little nuts for cookie cutters, I look for them everywhere.  So it's no suprise that I went to New York a few weeks ago and came home with a bag full of cutters.  You know most people go to Barney's or Bendel's not me, I bring home cookie cutters.  I then like to go through my entire collection and see if they can be used as any other shapes, like the tulip cutter I use to make shields.  My favorites were Santa Clause, which was on sale for 1 cent (I am a bargain hunter through and through) and a set of round cookie cutters which were smooth on one side and fluted on the other!
